Family Camp is a Wrap for 2023!

July 28, 2023

Family Camp 2023 is now complete. It was a huge success! Although we had limited volunteers this year, we managed to enjoy our largest Family Camp ever, with over 70 people joining us out at Big Bar Lake!

Thank you to all those who volunteered for set up, teardown, in the kitchen, doing dishes, and leading activities, we couldn’t do Camp without you.

We will have a Camp Followup Meeting in September to discuss our future Camp plans, so stay tuned for more news about 2024.

Have a great rest of your Summer, and we hope to see you again next year!

Family Camp 2022

May 15, 2022

Hello everyone,

Family Camp is back for 2022!

We have decided that we will operate as a Family Camp again this Summer. This year the dates will be July 8-13, 2022.

We’ve made a couple of key changes for Family Camp this year that we think will make it an even better experience:

  1. Registration Includes Most Meals

    • We’ve decided that to make Family Camp easier for those attending, we will provide Lunch and Dinner during Camp. To give volunteer kitchen staff enough breaks, we ask that families prepare their own breakfasts. Meal service starts with Lunch on July 9th, and ends with Brunch on July 13th.

  2. Wall Tents are Available to Rent

    • We are making our large wall tents available to families who may not have camping equipment of their own. We will set one up for you if you request one on your registration form. This will be FREE for those who need it, included with your registration fee. Our 14x20’ wall tents are large enough to easily accommodate up to 10 people.

  3. Increased Price to Cover Food Costs

    • In order to cover the food costs for providing meals, we have raised the registration fee to a very affordable $150 per family. We believe this is an excellent value for you and your family, and all we ask in return is that you plan to take part in all the Camp activities together so as not to take advantage of the low price without actually engaging with Family Camp. We appreciate your understanding!

Activities will be done as families—for example, group hikes together, canoes for families to share together, slingshot lessons, etc. We will provide devotional/Bible study materials to do either as groups or in families, and we will join together for evening Campfire Services as well.

Here’s the exciting news: You can already register for Family Camp 2022 right now! Payment is requested when you arrive at Family Camp, by cash or cheque. Click here to register for Family Camp.

So, register today for the low price of only $150 for your whole family, and we hope to see you at Big Bar Lake Provincial Park, July 8th-13th, 2022.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My contact information is below.

Family Camp 2021

Well, Family Camp 2021 is behind us, and Summer is almost over - I think I am almost recovered!

Family Camp was generally a success, although we did face challenges with having enough volunteers for setup. We are hopefully that next year will see a return to more support like we normally have, and recognize that 2021 was challenging for everyone, and planning ahead proved to be difficult.

With that in mind, we hope to see a return to Kids Camp and Teen Camp for 2022, Lord-willing. We will be holding a Camp Evaluation and Prep meeting sometime in September-October, and evaluating the future of Kids Rock Camp at that time.

While Family Camp was slightly smaller than we were expecting, at least in part due to the short notice, but also because of wildfire danger and road closures, we did feel that the atmosphere was very enjoyable and restful. With that in mind, we will be exploring the idea of holding Family Camp again in 2022. If you would like to see Family Camp happen again, please let us know!

See you in 2022!

God bless,

2021 Update on Kids Rock Camp

May 27, 2021

Hello everyone,

I finally have some news to share with you! The Board has made the difficult decision to pivot our plans for 2021, which means we will not be having Kids Camp or Teen Camp in the way we normally would. However, instead we have decided to hold a Family Camp for the first time ever in 2021! We have set the dates as July 9-12, 2021 (Please note this could change slightly).

I’m sure you likely have questions about what that’s going to look like; it is a big change for us. While we still have many details to work out, here’s what I can tell you is the plan so far: Families would be welcome to come, and would plan to bring their own camping accommodations (Tent, Trailer, etc.), as well as prepare their own food together as a family. This helps us with the short planning window, as well as helps us meet whatever Covid restrictions may still be in place.

Activities would be done as families, and as groups as restrictions permit - for example, group hikes together, canoes for families to share together, things like that. We are still early in the planning stages for what activities will be available, and what the schedule will look like, so please be patient as we try this brand new thing! We will provide devotional/Bible study materials to do either as groups or in families, and we would join together for Campfire Services as well.

We are not currently ready to accept registrations yet, nor have we set a price, although the goal of our Camp has always been to make it extremely affordable. But if you are interested, we ask that you please fill out the short form here on the “Family Camp 2021” page to let us know, and we will be in contact as soon as we possibly can to let you know more details.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My contact information is below.

God bless,

COVID-19 Update for May 12, 2020

Hello everyone,

The time has come for us to make the difficult decision to cancel Kids Rock Camp 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While some of you likely saw this coming, we did everything we could to wait as long as possible before making this call. Perhaps we were being naive, or optimistic, or both; but all of us at Kids Rock Camp agree that we did not want it to come to this.

For those who already registered, we will be getting in touch soon to process refunds. If you have any questions, please e-mail me.

I want to personally apologize for not keeping everyone updated on the Camp situation sooner; it’s possible some of you have been waiting to hear what our plans are. I am sorry for that. The truth is, even after the Leadership Team and I had made the decision, I hesitated to announce it at first, for several reasons. The first was that I didn’t know what to say. I am as disappointed as you all are that we can’t have Kids Rock Camp this Summer. So writing this statement was difficult for me, because I wanted to have the right words to say. The second reason was that I still held some sliver of hope that perhaps things would change more quickly. By postponing the announcement, the door was left open to perhaps still do Camp, maybe later in the Summer. But given the size of Kids Rock Camp and how many people are there, we just have no way that we can effectively meet the physical distancing requirements needed to keep everyone safe.

The third, and perhaps most important reason I did not make this announcement sooner is because I needed to pray. I needed time to pray about what God would like us to do instead. It might be to do something creative and different, or it might just be to rest. But whatever it is, we believe that God still has a plan, and He’s looking for us to be obedient to Him. I wanted time to hear that plan, so that perhaps I could provide some ideas towards a safer alternative to Kids Rock Camp in 2020. Some of you may remember the way God mobilized us in 2017, when we had to cancel Camp due to the wildfires all around us. The Community Lunches were a clear and obvious way that the church could still help and make an impact. The way forward through COVID-19 is not as clear this year; but that doesn't mean God doesn’t have a plan for us! While I don’t have anything to announce just yet, we are still praying about some creative ideas for ways we can safely do something as a Camp for 2020 - even if it is very different from the Camp we normally run. So please check back in to the website for any news in the coming months.

These are challenging and unprecedented times, but when we put our trust in Jesus we have a faith that is an anchor for the soul, firm and secure through even the fiercest storm. Do not despair for the things we are not able to do, but instead rejoice for the things we can still do, and find your joy in Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. My contact information is below. I’m praying for you.

God bless,

COVID-19 Update for March 20th, 2020

Regarding COVID-19:

For those that have been wondering, it is still too early for a decision on what to do about Kids Rock Camp 2020. With so much uncertainty, for the time being we are postponing registration to a later date. But we are not ready to give up on the possibility that social distancing now will allow us to run in July. We maintain hope and faith, and we continue to pray for God's healing and protection in our nation. We will refrain from cancelling Camp for as long as we can, because we know we are all looking forward to some normalcy as soon as possible.

For those of you in Clinton, Kids Night on Wednesday nights will be postponed indefinitely, until we are given permission and it is safe to run again.

Please do not hesitate to message us or call us if you have concerns, need suggestions or resources to keep your kids entertained, or just need someone to talk to!

God bless,
- Pastor Nick
